Background and History
South University was established in 1899 by Dr. John Draughon as Draughon’s Practical Business College in Savannah, Georgia. This two-year college soon transformed into a four-year university and operates 5 campuses, an online division, and a campus-based/online-based joint program called Plus+ Program. South University is dedicated to providing education for the intellectual, social, and professional development of students. Bachelor degree programs offered by South University Online are in the areas of business administration, criminal justice, healthcare management, information technology, legal studies, and nursing (RN to BSN).
Accreditation and Job Placement
South University Online is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. A number of separate programs/schools are individually accredited by various accrediting agencies. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement rates are not posted. Career services available for students and alumni through South University include professional development, resume/cover letter writing, interviewing skills, self-assessment, career exploration, job search strategies, and career services resources/reference material.
