Background and History
Westwood College was founded in 1953 in Denver, Colorado. Formally known as the Denver Institute of Technology, this institution has now grown to include 17 campuses throughout the United States and an online campus offered through the Denver North campus. The online campus of Westwood College has a mission in "providing quality, career-focused undergraduate and graduate programs that prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and credentials needed to launch, enhance or change careers." Westwood College currently offers 17 degree programs in 4 different areas. Bachelor degrees offered through Westwood College Online are in the areas of animation, business administration, business management, computer network management, construction management, criminal justice, ebusiness management, fashion merchandising, game art and design, game software development, healthcare management, information systems security, interior design, technical management, visual communications, and web design and multimedia.
Accreditation and Job Placement
Westwood College Online is accredited through the same accrediting agency as the Denver North Campus. Denver North is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology (ACCSCT). The ACCSCT is a private, nonprofit, independent accrediting agency. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement rates are not posted, and employment is not guaranteed. Career services provided to both students and alumni of Westwood College include job search strategies, resume writing, portfolio design, networking, employer contacts, and online career development tools available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
