University of Phoenix Bachelor Degrees

Background and History

The University of Pheonix was founded in 1976 by Dr. John Sperling. Dr. Sperling envisioned the need for an innovative, futuristic approach to teaching higher education to a growing number of adult students. Over the last 30+ years, the University of Phoenix has grown to accommodate thousands of working adults and is recognized as the largest institution of higher learning in the United States. There are currently over 250 campuses and learning centers across the nation. The mission of the University of Phoenix is to foster professional goal achievement, service to communities, and improvement in organizational productivity for each and every student. The University of Phoenix was also named one of America's Best Colleges 2007 by U.S. News and World Report Magazine. Bachelor degrees offered online through the University of Phoenix are in the areas of business, education, healthcare, social and behavioral science, and technology.

Accreditation and Job Placement

The University of Pheonix Online is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The Higher Learning Commission is recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Many programs are also accredited by individual accrediting associations. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement varies for each program and department and is not guaranteed. Career services available to students and alumni through the University of Phoenix include career development, alumni networking, and various career services resources/reference material.
