Background and History
The Art Institute Online was created in the year 2000, as a division of The Art Institute of Pittsburgh. The Art Institute of Pittsburgh was founded in 1921 and continuously supports the online school with program excellence. Today, there are over 34 traditional schools in The Art Institutes system of schools and an online division hosting 13 academic programs. The mission of The Art Institute school systems is to offer the highest quality of creative and collegiate education, provided in a student-centered environment. Bachelor degree programs offered through the online Art Institute are in the areas of advertising, fashion and retail management, game art and design, hotel and restaurant management, interior design, media arts and animation, and a bachelor's degree completion program in culinary management.
Accreditation and Job Placement
The Art Institute Online is accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools (ACICS). The ACICS is recognized by the United States Secretary of Education as an independent national accrediting body. Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement for graduates within six months of graduation and in a field related to their program, according to 2005 statistics, is 90.1%. The average salary for graduates in that same year was $27,912. The Art Institute Online also offers career services to both students and alumni in resume writing, employer networking, and career services resources.
