Background and History

Portland State University, or PSU, was founded in 1946 in Portland, Oregon. Portland State is located in the heart of downtown Portland and is a part of the Oregon University System. PSU’s mission is to continually grow toward “standards of excellence in accessible high quality research, teaching and outreach programs.” Portland State University was listed as one of “America’s Best Colleges 2007″ by US News & World Report magazine. Bachelor degree programs offered through Portland State University are in the areas of criminal justice.

Accreditation and Job Placement

Portland State University is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. This Commission is recognized as an accrediting body by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Financial Aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement rates are not posted. Career services available for students and alumni of PSU include career development, job searches, individual counseling, workshops, resume writing, interviewing tips, job posting, internships, and career services resources/reference material.
