Background and History

Mountain State University, or MSU, was established in 1933 in Beckley, West Virginia. MSU remains headquartered in Beckley and presently manages 4 campuses nationwide with independent study options and an online campus. Mountain State University believes in their mission of instilling knowledge in students to transform lives and in opening opportunity for personal and professional success. Bachelor degree programs offered by MSU online are in the areas of organizational leadership, business, medical assisting, and criminal justice.

Accreditation and Job Placement

Mountain State University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The Higher Learning Commission is recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
