Higher Education in Louisiana

As part of an initiative to promote access to online bachelor degree programs in Louisiana, the state is a member of the Southern Regional Education Board and participates in its Academic Common Market/Electronic Campus program, which allows students to enroll in approved out-of-state programs at in-state tuition prices. This increases the availability of rare online programs and gives students the opportunity to enroll in programs that would otherwise be too expensive due to the cost of attending out-of-state universities.

Public higher education within Louisiana is overseen by the Louisiana Board of Regents. The Board is responsible for developing policies that will increase student access to higher education and promote high-quality programs offered through colleges and universities. It is also responsible for approving budgets and conducting research. The Board provides a directory of the schools over which it presides.
