Indiana State University Bachelor Degrees

Background and History

Indiana State University was founded in 1965 as “Indiana State Normal School.” The university first opened its learning doors in January, 1870, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Today, ISU remains at this location and also offers distance learning programs. The mission of Indiana State University Online is to help students achieve their goals through distance learning or “distance friendly” classes. “Distance friendly” courses may be completed by using both distance learning and on-site campus learning. Bachelor degree programs provided by Indiana State University Online are in the areas of business administration, career and technical education, community health promotion, criminology, electronics technology, human resources, industrial supervision, industrial technology, insurance and risk management, mechanical engineering technology, and nursing.

Accreditation and Job Placement

Indiana State University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). The Higher Learning Commission is recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education and is a member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Financial aid is available for those who qualify. Job placement rates are not posted. Career services offered by the ISU career center include career exploration, occupational guides/descriptions, resume/cover letter writing, interviewing, networking, employer literature, and internships.
