What do I do if I need help in my online class?

When you go to school online, you are putting yourself in a position where you will have to motivate yourself. If a problem comes up, you will need to be able to solve it on your own. However, there will be some instances where you will need some additional help – schools are counting on it. This is why there is generally an extensive range of student support made available. Just because you are learning online does not prevent you from having some of the same difficulties as those who attend a brick-and-mortar college. In fact, because you go to school online, you may come in contact with even more troublesome instances.

When you are experiencing any problems, simply log on to your school's website and find the student assistance page. However, before you can choose one of the available options, you must know the kind of assistance you need. In the case where you are having trouble not with a particular class, but more with a program, online help is always available.

However, if you are in need of some academic advisement – i.e. help with a class or choosing a degree program – there is also assistance that is available. In the case where you are having an issue with a class, you should start by reaching out to either your instructor or even a classmate. You can do so by logging on to your class discussion forum and search for any helpful information that may immediately answer your question. If you are unable to find a solution to your problem there, go about contacting any students you have developed a relationship with. You can also contact your instructor and e-mail them with whatever your specific question may be. If an e-mail response still does not make anything clearer for you, try looking into getting an online tutor – most accredited online schools make this option available to their students.

Lastly, an array of technical problem can occur when you are receiving an online education. These problems can prevent you from being able to interact on a group chat or load any assigned homework. In the unfortunate situation that you are experiencing technical difficulties directly related to a class, go directly to your school's technical support webpage or call the number on the site to get the help you need to solve all of those issues.
