Is it easy to transfer from an online school to a traditional one?

If you hope to transfer credits earned at an online college to a traditional institution, be sure to enroll in an accredited program. Accredited schools have met a set of educational standards. Credits earned at unaccredited schools will not be accepted by most colleges.

Transferring credits can either be a smooth or tricky process, depending upon the schools you are going to and coming from. Some learning institutions are more accepting than others. Credits are more likely to transfer if the course in which they were earned is also offered at the institution you want to accept them. Some schools recognize only those credits that satisfy general education requirements or electives.

Depending upon the reputation of the school you are looking to transfer from, some institutions may request evidence of the level of difficulty of certain classes, particularly those in which you got high grades. A significant number of colleges do not let students transfer more than a fraction of their completed credits. This is done to keep students from changing schools excessively. Nevertheless, transferring is possible but is easier done early on in your program rather than later.
