Capella University Bachelor Degrees

Background and History

Capella University began in 1993 and was originally named The Graduate School of America. This Minnesota-based university currently offers 16 undergraduate and gradate degree programs with 98 different areas of specialized study. Capella’s mission is to offer learning experiences in a variety of delivery modes to adults wishing to grow both personally and professionally. In 2001, Capella was added to the US News & World Report list of “Best Online Graduate Business Programs.” Bachelor degrees offered by Capella University are in the areas of accounting, business administration, finance, human resources, information technology, management, marketing, and web development.

Accreditation and Job Placement

Capella University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission. They are also a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). Capella was also the first of any online institution to take place in the Academic Quality Improvement Program (AQIP) of the NCA in 2000. The AQIP annually reviews participating institutions to make sure the college is maintaining overall continuous quality improvement. Financial aid is available to those who qualify. Job placement rate is not reported. Capella does offer the services of a career center for both students and alumni. These services include job searching tools, resume/cover letter assistance, career planning, seminars, job postings, and internships.
