Background and History
Ashford University was founded in 1918 and is a liberal arts-based higher education institution. Its original name was Mount St. Clare College up until 2002 when it then changed names to The Franciscan University. In 2005, the college became known as it is today as Ashford University when Bridgeport Education, Inc., acquired the institution and changed the name again. Ashford University operates only one traditional campus and is located in Clinton, Iowa. Ashford University Online coordinates with this campus for all program curricula.
