Background and History

Argosy University began as three different schools in the early 1970's. American Schools of Professional Psychology, the Medical Institute of Minnesota, and the University of Sarasota all joined in September of 2001 to create Argosy University. Argosy University Online is offered through the Chicago campus. Including the Chicago campus, there are 18 total university locations nationwide. Argosy University is committed to help students advance in their career choice through teaching and practical training involving online learning strategies created by the Socrates Distance Learning Technologies Group. Student growth is also supported by assigning each student with a student advisor, faculty mentor, career services, and an online campus community. Argosy University offers bachelor degree programs in the areas of both business and psychology.

Accreditation and Job Placement

Argosy University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and is also a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA). HLC is recognized as an accrediting agency by the United States Department of Education and Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Financial aid is available for those students who qualify. Job placement is not guaranteed; however, the Career Services department does offer both current students and alumni career counseling, job search advising, web resources, and an online job listing database.
